Renzo, the co-founder of The Pencil, can best be described as a visionary entrepreneur who is deeply focused and driven about the brands he has created, all of which have been housed under the Rembrothers Hospitality Group.
Keegan, born and raised in the Eastern Cape, moved to Durban in 2004 to chase a rugby dream. He started playing rugby professionally in 2006 and retired in 2018, following a successful career as a valuable Springbok player and Sharks Captain.

With degrees in Mediation and Commerce, Ainsley’s career in hospitality has followed a path of luxury service. Having worked at The Cellars, Cape Grace and Palazzo, she has discovered her forte lies in food and beverage.
Etienne brings with him a wealth of culinary experience. Although born in South Africa, he has had an illustrious career, climbing the ranks in culinary outlets in London, Europe and Asia.
He learnt the real art of cuisine in the South of France, and it was here he developed his love for Mediterranean food where nature, the seasons and ingredients influence each dish.

Tafadzwa, fondly known as Dubes, has a deep passion for all things related to wine. Having a WSet3 qualification, his desire for learning still continues.
Although knowing cultivars, terroir and vintages as well as testing and tasting wines are skills required for the job, his greatest pleasure comes from interaction with guests – elevating their dining experience to exceed their expectations.
After a successful career in advertising, Tonya shifted her focus to fine arts.
Tonya joins the team as Art Director, overseeing and curating the art displayed in The Pencil. All of which are created and sourced through The Pencil Art Foundation, of which she oversees.

Michelle at a young age showed a keen interest and love for the arts and creativity. Always painting, drawing or browsing art books. After her schooling she completed both a BA Brand Communication as well as a BA Honours in Fine Art. With some agency and marketing work in between, Michelle knew from the get go that her passion lies within the gallery world.
Her other passions are teaching and with numerous years of experience in education and lecturing including Fashion illustration. Michelle hopes to make a change in the world.
